The why, what and who

Golf has long been one of Australia’s most popular sports, with unique strengths and traditions.

The vision of Golf Business Forum is to help the industry work together to ensure golf remains so positioned. We believe that for the golf industry to thrive, golf businesses need to perform as well as the elite players. Sustainable financial outcomes enable investment in facilities, which in turn drives quality golf customer experiences.

To turn ideas into action, we set out to engage with the Australian golf industry to explore the potential for a new kind of event: an event designed to connect industry stakeholders in order to collectively enhance golf business performance. This became the Golf Business Forum.  Around 200 golf industry leaders gathered in Melbourne in late July 2016 for the inaugural event.

We had set out to create a new opportunity for the golf industry to come together to focus on the business of golf, and we were thrilled to see so many respond. Fuelled by 972 cups of quality Melbourne coffee (along with some craft beer at the Networking Event held at one of Melbourne’s famous pubs) delegates and sponsors shared an open, innovate exhibition space and a theatre showcasing high-quality educational content. The event was also an important opportunity to get together socially and make the connections across the golf industry, including representatives from public access golf courses, member-based clubs, driving ranges, mini-golf facilities and virtual golf centres.

The 2016 Forum had succeeded in generating ideas and starting some new conversations - but opportunities remain to drive the event further. So we’re off and running again!

Working together with Platinum Partner, MPower MSL, and Foundation Partner Golf Australia, we’re excited to deliver a bigger and better Golf Business Forum 2018; to be held in Melbourne from Monday 30 July to Tuesday 31 July.

The 2018 Golf Business Forum will:

  • Attract more than 250 people from across the Australian golf industry
  • Continue to connect the industry with owners and operators from a diverse range of golf facilities
  • Develop more innovative thinking, critical to industry growth
  • Provide key education and training opportunities.

Golf’s major industry organisations are continuing their support of the Forum, as are many of the inaugural sponsors.

The golf industry has, for generations, been viewed primarily through the prism of the private member club. In recent years, this focus has widened to encompass the complex variety of facilities, whether they are public, private or a hybrid of both. We can learn from each other to the benefit of the industry as a whole and some lessons learned from servicing the public golfer could also be applied to private club members and vice versa. The Golf Business Forum delivers content relevant across all sectors of the industry and promotes connections and learning between facilities and the suppliers to the industry.

As the name suggests, the Forum is all about the business of golf and we welcome all comers from the industry, from mini-golf operators and large municipal facilities through to major retail suppliers and golf course architects. If you are servicing the Australian golfer, then you belong at the Forum.
